The word ‘farm’ often brings to mind visions of peaceful countryside dwellings, rural hospitality, and the quaint charms of country living. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case.
The Farmers Union of Wales’ (FUW’s) Mold Rural Crime team has reported a recent string of burglaries targeting farms, particularly in the Northern regions of Wales.
The North Wales Police issued the following guidance to farmers:
“Please take positive steps to protect your property, such as installing alarms, CCTV and PIR (motion detecting) lighting. Padlock entrance gates to your property if possible.”

Implementing security measures on your property can do a great deal to protect against burglars, even preventing incidents before they occur.
There are a wide number of different security systems that can be implemented on a farm to protect live stock, machinery, and other valuable items. Two of the most popular security systems on premises like farms include alarms and CCTV cameras.
Alarms
Alarms are a great way to protect your property against would-be burglars. One benefit of alarms is that they’re pretty diverse, and you can select a variation that’s best suited to you. Whether you’re looking for a two-way system so you can communicate with would be intruders, or perhaps a system that alerts the police when triggered, you can achieve it with an alarm.
CCTV Cameras
Much like alarms, CCTV cameras are pretty diverse, and there are a range of different systems you can choose from depending on your property and what you’re hoping to achieve. There are analogue systems and modern digital options available – you can even have a CCTV camera that streams directly to your phone, allowing you to monitor your property anytime, from anywhere.

Although alarms and CCTV cameras are some of the more common security systems, they aren’t by any means the only options available.
